About Covered Call Index

Covered Call Index is a free, independent directory and comparison tool for covered call and option-income ETFs listed in Canada and the United States. It exists to make a fast-growing — and frequently misunderstood — corner of the market easier to research in one place.

What This Site Does

Covered call ETFs have exploded in popularity with income-focused investors, but they are scattered across more than a dozen providers, each with its own naming, distribution schedule, and disclosure format. Comparing them usually means opening a dozen browser tabs and reading a dozen fact sheets.

This site pulls the key facts into a single, searchable directory so you can compare funds side by side: distribution yield, management fee, strategy, distribution frequency, assets under management, and recent price action. The goal is simple — give you a clear starting point for your own research, not a destination.

What It Is — and Isn't

It is a research and comparison tool. It is not a brokerage, a fund provider, a newsletter, or a source of investment advice. We don't sell funds, hold your money, or take a position on which fund you should buy. See the full disclaimer for details.

Who Builds It

Covered Call Index is an independent project by The Dividend Empire, a Canadian creator focused on dividend investing, covered call ETFs, and passive-income strategies. It grew out of the same research process used for that work: tracking monthly distribution changes across Canadian providers and trying to keep it all straight.

It is built and maintained by an individual investor and educator — not a registered investment firm, advisor, or dealer. That independence is the point: there's no fund company deciding what gets listed or how it's ranked.

How It Stays Independent

Every fund that meets the inclusion criteria is listed, regardless of provider. Rankings and sorting are driven entirely by the underlying data and the filters you choose — not by any commercial relationship. We are not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by any of the ETF providers shown.

The site is supported by display advertising, which keeps it free to use. Ads are clearly labelled and kept separate from the data. Advertising has no influence over which funds appear or how they're presented.

Where the Numbers Come From

Figures are compiled from fund providers' official distribution announcements and public market data, refreshed on a regular schedule. Data can be delayed and may contain errors or omissions, so always confirm against a fund's official documents before acting. For definitions of every metric shown, see the glossary.
