Best Single Stock Covered Call ETFs of 2026
Single-stock covered call ETFs hold one company and write calls on it, turning a familiar share like a bank, a pipeline or a tech giant into a monthly income stream. Because one company is far more volatile than a whole index, the option premiums can be large, and so can the payouts.
That same concentration is the catch. Each fund rises and falls with a single business, so a bad quarter or a sharp sell-off in that one name hits the fund in full. Ranking them side by side mostly shows which companies had a good year, and how much of that year each fund managed to keep.
Many of these funds also use leverage, and several track the same company from different providers, so it is worth comparing like with like before choosing one.
Of the 71 funds we rank, AMDY has done best this year at +97.46%, and RDDY has done worst at −60.05%. Counting distributions, 38 of the 71 funds have made money, and the median sits up 2.5%.
Key Takeaways
- AMDY holds first place at +97.46%.
- A 157.5 percentage points spread separates the best from the worst, so fund choice matters here.
- Look past the extremes and the typical fund is up 2.5%.
The Top 5 in 2026
1. AMDY: Harvest AMD Enhanced High Income Shares ETF
The best performer of 2026 so far is AMDY, at +97.46%. Price and distributions did about equal work, 50.9% from the units and 46.6 percentage points from payouts. In its construction, it writes calls on roughly 33 to 50% of the portfolio, it uses about 25% leverage and it passes currency moves straight through to investors. The extra exposure from borrowing has paid off so far, though it also means sharper falls in a sell-off. It yields an annualized 46.06%, with 1.89% going to costs each year. Funds like this one pay monthly and use leverage of around a quarter, a middle ground between owning the stock outright and a heavily geared product.
2. YAMD: AMD (AMD) Yield Shares Purpose ETF
Trailing only the leader, YAMD has returned +90.51%. Price appreciation leads at 60.0%, while distributions contributed 30.5 percentage points. When it comes to the options, it writes calls on about 50% of the portfolio, it uses about 25% leverage and it is hedged to the Canadian dollar. That extra exposure has been a big help in a rising market, though it would hurt just as much in a falling one. The yield is 38.65% on an annualized basis, and the MER is 1.79%. Its family writes calls on about half of each fund's net assets and adds modest leverage, paying out the option premiums, plus any dividends, every month.
3. SUHE: Harvest Suncor Enhanced High Income Shares ETF
A step further down, SUHE is up 63.11% this year. Rising prices drove most of it, with the units up 43.0% before the 20.1 percentage points of distributions are even counted. In short, it writes calls on roughly 33 to 50% of the portfolio and it uses about 25% leverage. Leverage explains some of the lead; in a weaker market, it would work just as hard the other way. Its income works out to 16.68% a year right now, and it charges an MER of 1.88%. It is one of many lightly levered funds in its line-up, most of them built around a single household-name company.
4. SUHI: Ninepoint Suncor HighShares ETF
With a total return of +53.69%, SUHI places fourth. Its units climbed 38.6%, which did most of the work, and distributions added 15.1 percentage points more. Day to day, it writes calls on roughly 40 to 50% of the portfolio and it uses about 25% leverage. A rising market rewards leverage, and this fund has collected that reward. At the moment it yields 14.43%, and its MER is 1.71%. Its line-up was built to make covered call investing simpler, wrapping the stock, the options and the leverage into one listing with distributions twice a month.
5. CNQE: Harvest CNQ Enhanced High Income Shares ETF
Closing out the leaders is CNQE, with a total return of +43.97%. About half came from the unit price, up 25.2%, and half from distributions, worth 18.8 percentage points. Taking a closer look, it writes calls on roughly 33 to 50% of the portfolio and it uses about 25% leverage. When markets climb, leverage adds fuel, and that shows up clearly in its return. Right now it yields 18.35%, and its MER is 1.88%. As one of the enhanced funds in its family, it borrows about 25 cents for every dollar invested and puts it to work in the same holdings, then writes calls on up to about half the position.
What Sets the Leaders Apart
Distributions were close, 26.2 percentage points on average at the top and 17.0 percentage points at the bottom. Prices were not: +43.54% for the top five against −60.66% for the bottom five. That says more about the holdings, the share of the portfolio under calls and any leverage than about payout policy.
Chasing the biggest payout wouldn't have led you to the top. RDDY yields the most at 69.77%, yet ranks 71st of 71 once price is counted too.
With median MERs of 1.88% and 1.80%, the two groups cost about the same to own.
The Bottom 5 in 2026
67. SOFY: Harvest SoFi Enhanced High Income Shares ETF
SOFY is 67th of 71, at −37.31% so far in 2026. Distributions of 17.8 percentage points have been outweighed by a 55.1% fall in the unit price. It also charges more than most, at a 1.8% MER. In terms of strategy, it writes calls on roughly 33 to 50% of the portfolio, it uses about 25% leverage and it lets the exchange rate play a part in its return. Leverage hasn't rescued it; if anything, it has made the dips steeper. The yield is running at 32.00% a year right now. The enhanced funds in this family run at about 1.25 times exposure, so moves in the underlying shares show up a little larger in either direction.
68. CNYE: Harvest Coinbase Enhanced High Income Shares ETF
CNYE ranks 68th of 71, with a total return of −39.17%. The payouts, worth 20.9 percentage points, haven't kept pace with a 60.0% drop in price. With an MER of 1.89%, costs eat into the return before anything else does. Under the surface, it writes calls on roughly 33 to 50% of the portfolio, it uses about 25% leverage and it takes on the currency swings rather than hedging them. Its leverage turned a modest setback in its holdings into a bigger one. Its distributions currently work out to 55.56% a year. Its line-up started out in pairs, a plain version and an enhanced one, but the newer launches have all been enhanced funds like this one, adding roughly 25% leverage in search of higher income and growth.
69. YNET: Netflix (NFLX) Yield Shares Purpose ETF
At 69th of 71 is YNET, which has returned −39.50%. It has paid out 12.4 percentage points, though the price fell further, by 51.9%. Looking at its approach, it writes calls on about 50% of the portfolio, it uses about 25% leverage and it hedges away the swings in foreign currency; the annualized yield is 19.15% and the MER 1.58%. Borrowed exposure is a double-edged tool, and the sharp edge has shown up this year. It comes from a line-up of mostly single-company funds that spread their call writing across different strike prices and expiry dates instead of one contract.
70. YCON: Coinbase (COIN) Yield Shares Purpose ETF
YCON has managed −42.38%, enough for 70th place. Its price has retreated 62.4%, more than the 20.0 percentage points its distributions supplied. As for its approach, it writes calls on about 50% of the portfolio, it uses about 25% leverage and it hedges its foreign currency back to Canadian dollars. Its extra exposure has magnified a weak stretch rather than a strong one. The MER is 1.62%, and the yield at today's price is 53.52%. Its family's distributions have tended to come from option premiums and dividends, with modest borrowing used to lift both the income and the exposure.
71. RDDY: Harvest Reddit Enhanced High Income Shares ETF
Finishing last of 71 is RDDY, at −60.05%. The units have lost 73.8%, and 13.8 percentage points of distributions has narrowed but not closed the gap. Its 1.82% MER is on the high side and comes out whatever the market does. Mechanically, it writes calls on roughly 33 to 50% of the portfolio, it uses about 25% leverage and it doesn't use a currency hedge. Leverage has added risk here without adding reward so far. Right now its annualized yield is 69.77%. Its family leaves part of every position uncovered, and in the enhanced versions the borrowed slice adds to both the income and the risk.
What to Watch in Single Stock Funds
Start with the company, not the fund. A single-stock ETF can only do as well as the share it holds, so its place in this table says more about that company's year than about the fund's design. If you wouldn't own the stock on its own, a higher payout doesn't change the risk.
Where two funds hold the same company, the differences are in the details: how much of the position is under calls, how much leverage is used, and whether the U.S. dollar is hedged. Those choices can put two funds on the same stock far apart in the ranking.
How to Compare Them Yourself
The first number to check is total return. Because these funds pay out so much, their unit prices tend to lag, and price alone understates what a perfectly decent fund has actually returned.
Look at the balance between price and payouts. A big distribution paired with a falling price can mean the fund is paying out more than it makes, which can shrink what you own over time.
Look closely at structure too. How much of the portfolio has calls written on it, whether leverage is used and what the MER is can matter as much as last year's return. Our Compare tool shows these for any five funds.

How We Rank
Order is decided by total return for 2026. We take each fund's price on December 31, 2025, reinvest every distribution on its pay date, and compare where it stands now, which tracks closely with what fund managers report. Hedged and U.S. dollar versions are folded into the main fund, and funds launched during the year aren't ranked.
