Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Covered Call Directory ("we", "us", or "the site") handles information when you visit coveredcalldirectory.com. We've tried to keep it plain and honest: the directory works without an account, and we only keep personal details when you send us a correction or support us on Ko-fi.

Who We Are

Covered Call Directory is an independent informational website operated by Everpire Studios Inc., a Canadian company. You can reach us at info@coveredcalldirectory.com.

Information We Collect

You can use the directory without registering, signing in, or giving us any personal information. We only receive personal details you choose to give us, such as what you type if you send a data correction from the Contact page, or your name and email if you support us on Ko-fi.

Like most websites, we and our service providers may automatically receive standard technical information that your browser sends when you visit — such as your IP address, browser type, device type, referring page, and pages viewed. This is used for security, to understand aggregate usage, and to keep the site working.

Data Correction Form

The data correction form is on the Contact page. If you send a correction, we keep what you enter (the fund and the details, and a reference link, your name, company and email if you give them) along with your approximate country, so we can check it and reply. Your IP address is used only to limit how many messages one connection can send in a day; it is not stored with your message. The form uses Cloudflare Turnstile to tell people from bots. We delete a message once it is no longer needed.

Ko-fi Supporters

If you support the site on Ko-fi, Ko-fi shares your name, email address and the details of your payment (amount, date and what it was for) with us. We keep them to thank you and to give supporters any perks we offer. Ko-fi handles the payment itself, so we never see your card or bank details.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

A cookie is a small text file stored on your device. This site stores a few things in your browser regardless of your choices, because it needs them to work: your light/dark theme preference, your answer to the cookie banner and the language it was shown in, a random identifier sent only with that answer so it can be matched to its own record (see Your Cookie Choices), a copy of the site's look and wording so pages load quickly, and whether you closed an announcement banner. There is no name, email or account attached to any of them.

Everything else — analytics and advertising — is off until you say otherwise. No analytics or advertising cookie is set, and no request is made to Google, unless you choose to allow it in the banner. The only measuring that runs for everyone is the cookieless counting described under Analytics, which stores nothing on your device.

In addition, third parties — including our advertising and analytics providers described below — may set their own cookies when you visit. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, and you can opt out of personalized advertising as described in the next section. Blocking some cookies may affect how the site works.

Each advertising network handles the information it collects under its own privacy policy. Sponsored placements arranged directly with us are not personalized and do not track you across other sites.

Consent in the EEA, UK, and Similar Regions

If you are visiting from a region that requires it (such as the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom), we and our advertising partners will request your consent for the use of cookies and the processing of data for personalized advertising before such cookies are set, in line with applicable law. You can change or withdraw your choice at any time through the consent controls on the site.

Analytics

Cookieless counting, for every visitor. Our own server and Cloudflare Web Analytics count how the site is used, never who uses it: pages viewed and roughly how long they stay on screen, what people do with funds and tools (for example opening, comparing, searching or using a calculator, with amounts only as a range), how a visit arrived (the kind of site or app, never the full address), display settings such as dark mode, and fund-data requests our server turned away. This counting sets no cookie, stores nothing on your device and keeps no IP address or identifier, so it cannot tell visitors apart or follow you. Each count keeps only what happened, the page, your country (and Canadian province), your browser's language and your type of device.

Visit types. When you leave a page about funds, your browser also sends one short label summing up that visit (for example, that funds were compared). It is worked out on your device and sent without an identifier, so it describes a visit, never a person.

If you allow analytics, we also use Google Analytics 4. It sets cookies holding a random identifier so it can recognise a returning browser, and records the standard details of a visit: pages viewed, the site you came from, your approximate city and country, and your device, browser, language and screen size. Google uses your IP address for that location but does not store it, and Google Signals and advertising personalisation are off, so no advertising profile is built.

We send it the same fund-focused actions as the cookieless counting above, never anything about you.

Search text. A search that matches a listed fund records the fund. A search that matches nothing keeps the words typed (up to 30 characters) so we can see what people look for; anything with an @ sign or a long run of digits is never kept. Please don't type personal information into the search box.

The first time you visit, a banner asks whether you allow analytics and advertising. These are separate choices — you can allow one and refuse the other — and refusing is exactly as easy as accepting. Nothing loads until you answer.

Your answer is remembered for six months, after which you will be asked again. You can change it at any time using Analytics Choices in the footer of any page, which clears your answer and brings the banner back.

So that we can demonstrate that consent was properly obtained, each answer is recorded with the date, the choices made, the language the banner was shown in, the version of the wording you saw, and the country your request came from. No IP address, browser fingerprint or name is stored with it — only the random identifier described above, which your own browser also holds, so you can match your record if you ask.

Quebec, Europe and the UK

Consent is requested before any non-essential cookie is set, for every visitor, wherever they are. This is the standard required by Quebec's Law 25 and by the GDPR in the EU and UK, and applying it everywhere is simpler and fairer than deciding who deserves it based on where they appear to be.

How Information Is Used

Information is used to operate and secure the site, check corrections, understand aggregate usage, serve and measure advertising, and comply with legal obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

We rely on a few service providers to do this: Cloudflare hosts the site, protects it, runs the human check on the correction form and counts page views, Ko-fi handles support payments, and Google Analytics measures usage only if you allow it. Some of these providers may process data outside Canada.

The site links to external pages, including fund providers' official websites. We are not responsible for the privacy practices or content of those sites. We encourage you to review their privacy policies.

Data Retention

Consent records are kept for as long as we may need to demonstrate that consent was given, and no longer. Google keeps detailed Google Analytics data according to its settings for this property (14 months at most); we keep a copy of the daily totals and top lists it reports, which hold no identifiers, for as long as they are useful. Cookieless counts are kept as daily totals for as long as they are useful for understanding how the site is used. For security, we keep Cloudflare's daily summaries of the requests the site received, including the IP addresses and browser details that sent the most of them, for 7 days at most; after that only totals without any IP address remain. Cookies set by third parties are retained according to those parties' own policies. Other automatically collected technical data is kept only as long as needed for the purposes described here or as required by law.

Children

This site is intended for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Your Choices and Rights

You can manage cookies through your browser, opt out of personalized advertising using the links above, and, depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, or delete personal information that we hold about you. To make a request, contact us. We aim to handle requests in accordance with applicable privacy laws, including Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and, for Quebec residents, the province's Law 25.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the date at the top. Your continued use of the site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
